Carrie Bennett is a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow and author of biography of water (The Word Works, 2005), The Land Is a Painted Thing (The Word Works, 2016) and several chapbooks from dancing girl: The Quiet Winter, Animals in Pretty Cages, and The Affair Fragments. She holds an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and an MA from Florida State University. She teaches writing at Boston University and lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with her family. Her recent poetry project, Lost Letters and Other Animals, examines memory, illness, and what it means to forget. She is especially interested in writing as a feminist act, hybrid genres, and the role of art and education in activism.
