Owen Lewis

Owen Lewis’s poetry has appeared in The Mississippi Review, The Adirondack Review, Peregrine, Four Way Review, The Cumberland Review, and The Mom Egg Review. Recent 2017 honors include Second Prize in the Paumantok Award (Farmingdale State College) and Shortlisting in the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Contest.  2016 honors include First Prize in the International Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine, the Jean Pendrick Chapbook Award from the New England Poetry Club, Second Prize in the Kent and Sussex Competition, a Pushcart Prize Nomination and a selection in the Isle of Guernsey International Poetry Competition. He has also received awards in The 2014 Mississippi Review Contest, the 2014 Connecticut River Review Contest, the 2015 Ver Poets Contest, The London School of Jewish Studies Poetry Award and from the Pat Schneider Poetry Prize of The Amherst Writers and Artists Press. A physician and professor at Columbia University, he teaches with the narrative medicine group. He also teaches writing in the New Directions Writing Program at the Washington DC Center for Psychoanalysis. He is the author of two collections of poetry: Sometimes Full of Daylight and Marriage Map, and two chapbooks, March in San Miguel and Best Man (Jean Pendrick Chapbook Award.)
