Stanley  H.  Barkan, born in Brooklyn in 1936, is the editor/publisher of the Cross-Cultural Review Series of World Literature and Art in Sound, Print, and Motion, which has, to date, published more than 400 titles in 58 different languages.  Barkan’s original poetry has been published in 20 collections and translated into 26 different languages, including bilingual editions in Bulgarian, Chinese, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, and Sicilian.  His  latest include, Crossings, translated into Russian by Aleksey Dayen; Sailing the Yangtze, translated into Chinese by Hong Ai Bai  (2014); and Gambling in Macáu and No Cats on the Yangtze, both translated into Chinese by Zhao Si (2017). Barkan has also translated and co-translated from Hebrew, Italian, Macedonian, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili. In January 2017, he was awarded the Homer European Medal of Poetry & Art.
